History

In 1977, Bruce Myers and Darrell Stauffer, former accounting professors at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, founded Myers and Stauffer. The practice began with a pharmacy rate analysis engagement for the State of Kansas. It has since grown to serve 49 states and encompasses several different practice areas including:

  • Cost report audit, desk review and settlements
  • Nursing facility case mix rate setting and MDS verification
  • Hospital DRG, APC and DSH consulting
  • Federal revenue maximization
  • Pharmacy dispensing and ingredient reimbursement
  • Claims review and program integrity
  • Reimbursement system design and implementation
  • Fraud investigation
  • And more

Today, Myers and Stauffer provides professional accounting, consulting, data management and analysis services to state and federal agencies managing government-sponsored health care programs. The firm’s health care practice has helped more than 49 state Medicaid programs address complex reimbursement issues for hospitals, long term care facilities, home health agencies, federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, pharmacy providers, physicians and other practitioner providers. In addition, for more than a decade, we have provided Medicare and Medicaid audit, investigative and consulting services to federal health care agencies, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General, and U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Myers and Stauffer has more than 35 years experience providing accounting, consulting and data management services to state Medicaid agencies.
